A Remarkable Piece About Love

A Remarkable Piece About Love

Please read this moving essay by Anna Quindlen, entitled The Loving Decision. It discusses the landmark Supreme Court case Loving v. Virginia in the context of gay marriage.

In the midst of all this misery over here, it's so nice to know that some people out there are working to spread kindness and love, and that the inevitable breaking down of boundaries can never be halted by hatred or division.

  • Thanks so much for your kind comment on my site. I did not mean to generalize ALL Christians as being closed-minded. I know there are many many out there who are wonderful, open-minded, open-hearted people. I hope more Christians can be like you. Bless you!

  • This is a great essay and lays out the issue in simple terms. It's not a matter of if but when.

  • Excellent article. I'm a big fan of Anna Quinlan. And, now, feeling a little better about living in New York state. I'm old enough to remember 1967, and while I don't specifically remember this case, there was a couple who lived in my neighborhood, and the husband was black, and the wife was white. Other neighbors were aghast, and my very liberal parents merely referred to them as "that mixed couple." The only time I met either of them was when I was a Girl Scout out selling cookies. He answered the door, and he seemed like a nice man, and I didn't understand what all the fuss was about. Later, when I was old enough to get the concepts, I realized how hard it must have been for them, especially moving into my very blue-collar, very Catholic neighborhood.
