First On the List Of Stupid Things That Don't Matter

How hilarious is this: a Kentucky legislator is apparently freaking out because the state's Homeland Security department forgot to credit God in its last report.

Are you kidding me? Can you think of something that God cares about less than whether or not his name is mentioned in a bureaucratic report? I can't.

I'm pretty sure that God cares about suffering and poverty and physics and watching how the universe is unfolding— stuff like that. And I'm also pretty sure that the only person who cares about the 2008 Kentucky Homeland Security report is the guy complaining about the absence of God in said report.

And if I were God, I'd be laughing at that silly idiot right about now.

  • I went to school and lived in Kentucky for many years, and in many ways it's a wonderful state. Unfortunately this sort of attention-getting fundamentalism is a specialty for the tri-state (KY-OH-IN) area of the Midwest, but is certainly not limited to it. We have this sort of cracker out here in the Pacific Northwest also. I think laughing at them is entirely appropriate. Laughin's good for you!

  • I find it interesting that in my traveling I have seen various branches of government mention God. In Ohio, "With God, all things are possible" caused such controversy that it required court rulings at least three times to reaffirm its legality. I am not saying that there are too much or too little governmental literature with God's name ablaze, but I do not see it a slippery slope if we do or do not have a plaque with a saying thanking God upon it. If someone is of faith they are likely thanking God for their blessings--If not. the plaque is just words. State Rep. Tom Riner casts a poor light on his parish by going to such extremes. I wonder if there is more to the story than we are being let on.

  • It seems just as ridiculous as sports teams asking God to help them win before a game. I would hope that God has more important things to do.

  • Soulscompanion, I hear ya-- we have a similar problem here in the great O-H-I-O with fundamentalists making us look bad. :)

  • Unreal--- God is probably thinking, "Now why are they doing that? I know I am the one who did it all." LOL
